Hi everyone,
I am not a descendant of Martha Dowling, but of her brother Henry Dowling (my granddad). I am happy to be included on this blog. I would be glad to help with any ancestry questions if I can. I would love to see some more old photos of the old folks.
Thanks!

Hello Margaret & Welcome to Marthas Blog. It's great to see other members of the Dowling Family
ReplyDeletejoining in as we are all direct descendants of
Great Grandfather.I remember when I was a young boy my mum (Dorothy, Marthas 3rd Daughter)used to walk up to Auntie Winnies,as we lived only a couple of miles away,& I remember Great Grand Dad would say " Hello Dorothy & who's this " (Me)
& I used to be delighted as a young boy seeing him .If we met him outdoors he would be so smart & be wearing a Homburg Hat & his gold watch chain on the front of his waistcoat.A truly remarkable man.Martha was a wonderful character & all the children used to love her playing the piano ( Twelve St.Rag was one of her favourites.)
I can remember Uncle Willie & Uncle Fred & of course Aunt Winnie.Keep in touch wont you & we can all discover more of our family.Ive, traced the Johnson Tree (Marthas Husband was Edward Johnson)back to 1730's to Bispham Green in Lancashire, they were Wheelwrights, I must catch up on the Dowling Tree.Best wishes & Love Gerry
Hi Margaret, Just going over some of the info on the blog and you asked if anyone had eye problems. Auntie Winnie was blind and I know Auntie Rene (who just passed away) had difficulties with her eyes too.
