This post is not strictly Marthas Blog but seeing Gerry was her son in law I'll post it anyhow. It might be interesting to some members of the family. The two photos are of Gerry(my dad) in Burma 1945 & His Bat Man Christofer
Shinooka (NCOS had a Batman in the 82nd Nigerian Regiment)Dad used to tell us of Christofers Bravery & when at the end of WW2 & they were all repatriated to their own countries Christofer wrote to my father (He was an educated Christian) To say he had been chosen by Nigeria to represent his country at the Victory Parade in London.Unfortunately Dad was at the time in a bad way & was in the Liverpool Hospital of Tropical Medicine & couldnt make it down to London but I have a copy of the letter (albeit rather old & faded now) which if anyone would like to see it give me a ring.

  1. Gerry, it's great to hear of all our relatives,Uncles,Aunts etc lives, and what fascinating experiences and times they lived through.

  2. Hi, I contribute to an online project on the History of Nigeria and I was wondering if I had your permission to post this picture on our site, with full credit.
